Implementing Strategic Sourcing in a leading UAE Retail and Commercial bank

Client Challenge

The client was looking for ways to reduce operating costs and improve quality of services to customers. They wanted access to larger talent pools as well as improve operations through implementation of the latest tools and technology to improve the speed of the bank.The client did not have intimate knowledge of the service providers in the market, nor the capability to undertake a large-scale migration, and looked to us to help structure to partnership and deliver the project.

What we did

We worked closely with the management team to complete the key milestones in the project:

– ‘Size the prize’ and obtain Board approval

– Work with risk team to obtain regulatory approval for the project

– Run RFP and vendor evaluation and supported the selection process

– Work closely with the Legal team during contract and term negotiations

Once the service provider was selected and the contract signed, we provided an experienced team to support implementation efforts. Our team worked on-site, partnering with all departments involved in the project to ensure the project management office ran smoothly. We tracked the project performance and delivered the project on time, on scope and at cost.

The result

With our client’s dedication to making the project a success, and our experience with planning and implementation, we were able to achieve the projected targeted savings at the end of implementation. Overall, with improved efficiencies, transformation initiatives, and overall processing improvement, our client has seen a 50% reduction in their operating costs.Engaging us provided the client with a number of positive outcomes, including:

– Support with running a transparent, auditable, RFP and vendor evaluation process which passed Internal Audit assessments

– Approval by the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates to proceed with the project by, utilising proven reporting

– Delivery of a $20 million program on time and at below forecasted cost, with no impact to customer experience during the delivery

– Training of bank staff on contract and SOW management prior to completion
